Education is key to solving the unemployment crisis South Africa faces.

There is no quick fix. Any quick fix in my opinion is short sighted.

To reduce unemployment, we need to equip those willing to work, with skills to make them demanded/needed.

Skills development is needed.

I do not believe that the current education system (that has been around for centuries) equips today’s youth with the needed skill set.

Yes, the current education system is acknowledged and applied by other countries internationally. That doesn’t make it right.

There are two groups of persons that are currently affected by lack of opportunities to get the required skillsets.

Adults and minors.

Changing the education system is good but it won’t affect the adults of today (those who don’t have skillsets).

Therefore adults need the opportunity to learn (on a separate platform). Trade colleges for adults is my solution.

Needs to be easily accessible and standardized (setting a new national framework).

Kids need to attend school and leave/graduate with skills to enter the work force (which most of them are not getting).

Education though is key to solving unemployment.
