OK. I might be making this up.
I also might be defining something that has been defined before.
Either way, I have come across this a few times in my life.
As an opportunist, I strive to make plans work out. I come up with ideas and then I try and navigate a path to make the concept become reality.
The Self Sabotaged mentality though takes a different outlook on life. Instead of looking for ways that things will work out, they look for ways that things will fail.
Instead of keeping a transaction simple, they look for complications.
There is a guy in our street, in this early 60s, who had an uncomfortable parting with his previous employer.
I could relate to the way he tried to explain how things ended. His introduction demonstrated unresolved emotional dealings.
I have been there. Took me a long time to get over my parting with my previous employer. My emotional dealings heavily motivated me to start my own firm.
The fact that the man in iur street needed to bring up his parting in our first passing by meeting tolds me that this was important to him.
I then indirectly reached out and offered an opportunity to earn some cash.
I presented a simple transaction and offered a chance to be paid.
He looked for reasons why it would not work. He presented consistent hurdles and concerns.
He delayed work because of fear of not being paid.
So frustrating.
My wifes counter arguement, with valid point, is that he is from a era where change is not easily embraced.
This was a new concept that he couldnt understand or relate too.
Either way, its a loss.
