What’s the alternative?
There seems to be a choice of three general approaches and when applied, it seems strict is the only option.
Either dictatorship, tyranny or democracy.
History has attempted Oligarchy (where a small number govern the masses). Wikipedia explains it as a form of power structure in which power rests with a small number of people. These people may be distinguished by nobility, wealth, education or corporate, religious, political, or military control. Such states are often controlled by families who typically pass their influence from one generation to the next, but inheritance is not a necessary condition for the application of this term.
There has got to be a better way than allowing the masses to select leadership. Its a popularity contest with no understanding of consequences.
We live in a world where the masses dont actually know what is best for them.
Promises of socialism is such a dangerous line to follow. Given that socialism has never worked.
The concepts sound appealing at first. The long term results though alway lead to collapse.
Perhaps AI could save us. Perhaps they could find a better way to govern and control.
Ideally, AI motivated with mankinds best interest (including fair distribution to the masses), sharing resources without borders for mankinds needs could be superior to our need to control and own resources.
All I know is that I don’t believe that democracy is the ultimate end goal. Yes, it beats dictatorships and tyranny rule.
There needs to be a next level of governance. Better accountability. There should be no room for financeers to impact decision making. There should be serious implications for corruption.
Things can work better. The question though is how?
