I have heard “spiritualists” use these term.

I also know that Science has yet to prove the existence of a Soul.

However, in relationships and relationships compatibility, I do believe that one needs to connect on at least two of the three.

My definition of body is physical attraction.

My definition of mind is intelligence.
Like mindedness.

My definition of soul is emotional chemistry.

Very few relationships have perfect connections on all three factors.

Being able to share and grasp each others ideas is important for being able to share a long term connection.

In time, the original physical desires fade, especially as we grow old. It is good to be able to change our expectations. Our bodies change, so too should our needs.

What you have left after the physical is removed is important.

That emotional connection should and can be nurtured into best friendship. Laughter, consideration and playfulness are key tools that can be used to develop this.

There is a fourth factor that I am neglecting to mention. It is a primal need, dating back to our original ancestors.

The need to provide and protect.

This need stems from our hunter gathering days.

For a tribe to survive, one part needed to go out and hunt for food. The other part needed to go out and gather information about their surroundings. That research would assess other opportunities and threats.

The hunter would also provide protection and security.

These are primal needs that hover in the background of our relationship compatibility.

One party needs to bring security and stability to relationship. Providing for their physical needs.

The other other party needs to provide emotional and background support. Stabilize the household needs.

Over time these roles change but if primal needs can be met, relationships can grow confidently.

What I witness is a Hollywood style of relationships.

Couples enter a relationship with physical attraction and primal displays of their success.

Down that road, they realize that emotional needs havent been nurtured and they havent connected on like mindedness.

This is where I believe relationships breakdown.

Nurturing a friendship relies on mutual respect. The minute that respect is lost is the minute that you lose emotional support.

Without emotional support, constructive relationships cant be maintained. Especiallyong term relationships.

Thats my observation at least.
